The Biotrap Fruit Fly kit for home gardens comprises of:
• 3 Biotrap V2X traps
• 1 Male Lure (effective for 6 months)
• 250ml Female Attractant Gel
• 5 sticky panels
HOW TO USE:
MALE TRAP:
One trap is for monitoring Male Fruit Flies. Use one trap with the male lure (Biotrap Cuelure Wafer) and one sticky panel insert. This lure is a para-pheromone that primarily attracts the male Queensland Fruit Fly (Bactrocera tryoni ). This lure will attract fruit flies from up to 400 meters.
Hang trap within the foliage of a tree, (not necessarily a fruit tree) at a height of approximately 1.2-1.5 meters preferably on the north eastern side (morning sun).
The Cuelure Wafer will be effective 6 months.
FEMALE TRAPS:
Two traps are for trapping the female Fruit Flies. Squeeze 60 mls of the female attractant gel in the base of the yellow trap (1/4 of the bottle) and place one sticky panel in each trap. The Attractant Gel is proven to be effective in attracting the Female Fruit Fly. Hang trap within the foliage of a tree, (not necessarily a fruit tree) at a height of approximately 1.2-1.5 meters preferably on the north eastern side (morning sun) and 15 meters apart from each other. Keep the female traps as far away from the MALE trap as possible. Refill the Attractant Gel and replace sticky panel after 3 months.
This Kit is suitable for a standard suburban backyard.
The Biotraps will last for years – replacement Lures, Attractant Gel and Sticky panels can be purchased separately when required.
